Long time no see!

Wow.. Long time since my last post. I had to make some slight changes on my daily life. But now we can get back to business. My main idea when started this blog was to update my blog with the new gadgets and stuff that i just bought and tested or willing to, so we can share our thoughts and experience.

What you will find here? Some cool gadgets that i am ordering non stop from different gadget websites around the world. I will give you links and prices on all so no worries there. Some tripod reviews, neck and wrist straps, monopods and lenses are all going to be reviewed here.

What you are going expect?
You must keep in mind that the reviews that i am writing are from a hobbiest perspective and not a professional sales man. This is the information when i am looking on the internet before approaching to buy some product. Specially if it costs $$$. I want to know what the casual user is feeling about the product.

So here is coming up my first review on camera lens. see you tomorrow..

Why to Buy a Kit and not a Body Only!

I guess the most of the DSLR lovers with a generous budget would like to get some good lenses with their first DSLR purchase. But stop. A brand new kit lens will cost you around $80. The difference between body only and a kit will be around $50. This way you will get a backup lens. Well why you need a backup lens?

The same reason as you backup your important files on PC. Your new lens can loose its focus just in the middle of your trip to a tropical island. Your lens can get scratched or maybe humidity problems can occur and you can get some bad blurry pictures. I am even not talking about dust! You will not start cleaning dust or mud from your front lens in the middle of a trip.
Dirty front lens will cause bad quality blurry photos and increase in auto focus timing.

Do yourself a favor and do not give up on a spare lens. In my case i am using a Canon EOS 500D (Rebel T1i)  and a kit lens which i find pretty good multi purpose lens for day time Canon 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS AF. I prefer using this lens on outdoor activities when lightning is not going to be a problem.

The Beginning of A DSLR Journey

Hi there,

One of the main reasons I have decided to write on my DSLR journey, is after hours and hours spent in front of my fellow laptop i was trying to understand what i need without luck. I guess, this is the first question you ask yourself.before you go and spend couple of hundreds on a decent digital SLR. I will do my best to take a clean shoot of my experience from the point i have started to get into DSLR world. The second reason is a lack of good sources for beginners. All blogs around the internet are written for marketing purposes or from the professional point of view.

If you are here reading this, so you are interested on DSLR's as much as I do, but you really don't know where to start or what to buy. Maybe you are looking for a starter kit, maybe you got your little babe and want to move to the next level. You want to get your first dslr lens.

We will talk about it later on, why not to hurry on the second lens. But just let me give you a piece of advice, do not buy body only. Buy a kit. Yes the body will cost a bit less than the full kit. But once you are spending that much of an amount for a good DSLR add some $$ and get your starter kit. Generally speaking all the kits i have seen and tested comes with a decent all in one multipurpose zoom lens.

I was on my way to a trip on Greek Islands just a bit more than a month a go. I have made some research on the internet, talked to salesman and some friends who owns DSLR's. Finally i have decided what i want to buy , i have decided on Canon 1000D kit with 18-55mm lens.  At the end after a long conversation with the salesman i have changed my mind and decided to go with the Canon EOS 500D kit (18-55mm lens included). I will write about this camera later on and will explain why i have changed my mind. (no, not simply because of it records Full HD video).

Next post i will try to explain why you need to buy a kit with a lens.
Later on i will talk about the research i have done. It is a bit complicated to choose what DSLR to buy. Since there are tons of them out there. Each with great futures and ready to shoot right out of the box. But what is best for you?
