The Beginning of A DSLR Journey

Hi there,

One of the main reasons I have decided to write on my DSLR journey, is after hours and hours spent in front of my fellow laptop i was trying to understand what i need without luck. I guess, this is the first question you ask yourself.before you go and spend couple of hundreds on a decent digital SLR. I will do my best to take a clean shoot of my experience from the point i have started to get into DSLR world. The second reason is a lack of good sources for beginners. All blogs around the internet are written for marketing purposes or from the professional point of view.

If you are here reading this, so you are interested on DSLR's as much as I do, but you really don't know where to start or what to buy. Maybe you are looking for a starter kit, maybe you got your little babe and want to move to the next level. You want to get your first dslr lens.

We will talk about it later on, why not to hurry on the second lens. But just let me give you a piece of advice, do not buy body only. Buy a kit. Yes the body will cost a bit less than the full kit. But once you are spending that much of an amount for a good DSLR add some $$ and get your starter kit. Generally speaking all the kits i have seen and tested comes with a decent all in one multipurpose zoom lens.

I was on my way to a trip on Greek Islands just a bit more than a month a go. I have made some research on the internet, talked to salesman and some friends who owns DSLR's. Finally i have decided what i want to buy , i have decided on Canon 1000D kit with 18-55mm lens.  At the end after a long conversation with the salesman i have changed my mind and decided to go with the Canon EOS 500D kit (18-55mm lens included). I will write about this camera later on and will explain why i have changed my mind. (no, not simply because of it records Full HD video).

Next post i will try to explain why you need to buy a kit with a lens.
Later on i will talk about the research i have done. It is a bit complicated to choose what DSLR to buy. Since there are tons of them out there. Each with great futures and ready to shoot right out of the box. But what is best for you?

For now.. Gladius is signing off..
